The hospital also includes a plethora of different personalities, specifically in the surgeons.  It is a positive experience to spend at least a year getting used to this.  It is how I developed a tough skin from being berated until I figured out what I was doing!  Upon leaving a hospital, you will have a solid grasp on the fundamentals of the job.

Clinics and offices also provide for Surgical Tech jobs.  Some examples off the top of my head are general surgery clinics, orthopedic, or plastic surgery centers.  The main advantage of these is that after a couple of weeks, you will be an expert in specific types of surgeries and become very adept at them.
